Biography of Jennifer Anne Petruik collected by the ACWS. Jennifer was murdered by her ex husband Kenneth Petruik on November 25, 1997, the day she signed her final divorce papers. Kenneth committed suicide. Jennifer was 32 years old and left behind a 2 year old daughter whom she was devoted to. Seeking a better life for herself and her child, Jennifer had left an abusive marriage in January 1997 after her husband was arrested on weapons charges from which he was later released on bail. As a skilled surgical nurse at the Royal Alex Hospital in Edmonton, she worked hard to help others and knew the importance of a warm smile on a difficult day. Jennifer had an appreciation for the humor found in life and could make people laugh even in times of trouble. She also had a passion for travel that included happy times spent in the mountains as well as living in Europe. Dedicated to her mother, two sisters and their families, Jennifer was always ready to share a laugh and bring joy to others.
